On 20 September, the Erwin L. Hahn Institute for MRI (ELH) welcomed representatives from the rectorates of Radboud University in Nijmegen and the University of Duisburg-Essen to the Zollverein World Heritage Site.

The guests from Radboud University were Rector José Sanders, Bas Hendrikx (Head of Department Grant Support & Projects) and Mario van der Toorn (Manager Knowledge Transfer Office). The Rectorate of the University of Duisburg-Essen was represented by Rector Barbara Albert and Vice-Rectors Astrid Westendorf (Research & Early-Career Researchers) and Karen Shire (University Culture, Diversity & International Affairs).

José Sanders has been the new rector at the ELH's Dutch partner university since October 2023. Now it was finally time to get to know her personally.

Last Friday, José Sanders was first welcomed to the campus by Barbara Albert, Rector of the University of Duisburg-Essen, before heading to the ELH premises in the afternoon.

Over refreshments, both the Dutch and German delegates marvelled at the historic premises of the building, which once served as the control centre of the Zollverein coking plant.

At the ELH, the members of the rectorates were welcomed by ELH directors Harald H. Quick, David Norris and Matthias Brand, PIs Dagmar Timmann and Ulrike Bingel and Managing Director Franziska Günther.

After a brief welcome and presentation, the one-and-a-half-hour visit naturally included a tour of the centrepiece of the ELH, the 7T MR system. The RF laboratory was also visited.

The visit to the University of Duisburg-Essen and the ELH focused on the joint projects of both universities and future collaborations.
